Octopost vs Postiz, Post Bridge, Buffer and Typefully
Five tools that cross-post to several networks, compared on price, accounts, Mastodon support and how well an AI agent can use them. Each section says when the other tool is the better pick. Prices from each company's pricing page, checked October 7, 2026; they change, so confirm before you buy.

Octopost vs Postiz
Postiz is the most complete product in this group. At $29 it includes 5 channels to our 3, it covers Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube, it is open source, and every plan has a hosted MCP server, CLI, API and webhooks.
Pick Postiz if you need video networks, more than a handful of channels, team seats, or the option to self-host.
Pick Octopost if your agent posts to X and you want a small tool it can learn in one read: 16 MCP tools, an approval queue that holds agent posts until you okay them, and native X threads. Today Octopost is live on X only; Threads waits on Meta approval and Bluesky, LinkedIn and Mastodon are in testing, so if you need those now, Postiz covers them.
Octopost vs Post Bridge
Post Bridge is built around short-form video: bulk video scheduling, carousels, and the big video networks. Its plans start at $39 for 15 accounts and include an API and MCP access. Mastodon is not on its platform list.
Pick Post Bridge if you publish the same video to TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Pick Octopost if you write text posts and threads for X, mostly through an agent, and want to start at $29.
Octopost vs Buffer
Buffer charges per channel ($5 a month each on Essentials), so for one to five channels it costs less than Octopost Basic. It has the most polished calendar and analytics here, and its Team plan adds approval workflows for people.
Pick Buffer if a person schedules the posts and wants the calendar and reports. Its API has monthly request caps per plan. Octopost has no monthly request cap (per-minute rate limits, plus a monthly allowance of X posts) and is designed for agents: the same 16 tools over MCP or REST, with an approval queue for agent-written posts.
Octopost vs Typefully
Typefully is a writing tool first: a focused editor for drafting threads, with X analytics. It publishes to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon. Its prices are per social set; check typefully.com for current numbers.
Pick Typefully if you write every post by hand and care about the editor. Pick Octopost if an agent or a script does the posting, or you want one queue that publishes on a schedule without you opening an app.
