Octopost vs Postiz

Octopost is built for an agent that posts: an MCP server, a REST API and an agent skill on every plan, an approval queue that holds agent-written posts until you okay them, and X threads in one call. Postiz is the broader product: 30+ networks, analytics, RSS, AI images and video, team seats, open source, and its own hosted MCP server, CLI, API and webhooks on every plan. Octopost is live on X only today, so if you need more networks now, Postiz covers them.

Choose Postiz if

  • You need Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky, LinkedIn or Mastodon in production today.
  • You want analytics, RSS to post, AI images and video, or seats for a team.
  • You want more than 3 channels for $29: Postiz gives you 5.
  • You want to add it in claude.ai or ChatGPT as a connector by URL today.

Choose Octopost if

  • Your agent posts to X and you want a tool it learns in one read: 16 tools whose descriptions spell out how X counts characters, the link-in-reply pattern and which networks work today.
  • You want every post your agent writes held until you approve it, on the $29 plan, with the result per network reported back to the agent.
  • You want to know what X charges before you post: a link post on X uses 13 of your monthly X units and a plain post uses 1, and the pricing page says so.

Switching from Postiz

  • Moving your agent from Postiz for X: connect the same X account in Octopost, point your agent at the MCP server or the REST API (/openapi.json), and keep Postiz for the networks Octopost does not support yet.
  • Scheduled posts do not import; recreate them with schedule_post, or with queue_post and needs_approval=true if you want to read them first.

Try Octopost on your own X account: 7 days for $1, then $29 a month. Cancel from the billing page before day 8 and you pay nothing more.
