How X (Twitter) counts: Weighted: links count as 23, most CJK characters and emoji count as 2.

We shipped scheduled exports today. You can now pick a time and a format, and the file lands in your inbox or an S3 bucket without anyone clicking a button. Why it took a while: exports used to run inside the web request, so anything over 50,000 rows timed out. 1/2

They now run in a background worker with retries, and you get an email if one fails. Two things to know. Old export links keep working for 30 days. And the API has a new endpoint for this, documented here: https://example.com/docs/exports 2/2

Post this thread without copy and paste

Octopost publishes the whole thread as a native reply chain on X and the other accounts you connect, now, on a schedule or after your approval, from the dashboard, the REST API, or your agent over MCP. This is the exact API request for the thread above:

Questions

Why does X show a different count than the other networks?

X weighs characters: every link counts as 23 no matter how long it is, and most emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters count as 2. Bluesky counts graphemes, so one emoji is 1. Mastodon counts links as 23 like X.

Where does it split?

At paragraph breaks first, then at the end of a sentence, then between words. It only cuts inside a word when a single word is longer than the limit.

Is my text stored?

No. The splitter runs entirely in your browser and makes no requests with your text.

Can I post the thread from here?

The tool gives you the posts to copy and the exact Octopost API request. Octopost, the paid service, publishes the thread as a native reply chain on a schedule or after your approval.
