Octopost + ChatGPT

Octopost is a social media MCP server. Add it to ChatGPT and your agent can post to X, write native threads, schedule posts and hold them for your approval. Octopost is live on X; other networks are on the roadmap.

  1. 1. Start a plan and connect X

Sign up (7 days for $1, then $29 a month), then connect your X account on the accounts page.

  2. 2. Add Octopost to ChatGPT and sign in

ChatGPT on the web: Plugins > + > Add custom MCP server. Custom MCP servers depend on your ChatGPT plan; on Business and Enterprise an admin may need to allow them.

    https://octopost.ink/mcp
    1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, click +, and choose Add custom MCP server.
    2. Name it Octopost, paste https://octopost.ink/mcp as the server URL, choose OAuth for authentication, and create it.
    3. An Octopost page opens: sign in if asked, check the account, and click Allow.
    4. In a chat, type @ and pick Octopost, then ask it to list your accounts.

No key to copy: ChatGPT signs in to Octopost (OAuth) and stays connected.

  3. 3. Try it

    Ask your agent:

    • “List my Octopost accounts.”
    • “Queue a post to X about today's release and hold it for my approval.”
    • “Turn these release notes into a 3-post X thread and schedule it for 9am tomorrow.”

If it doesn't connect

  • The sign-in window didn't open, or it says the app isn't registered: remove the Octopost connector and add the URL again.
  • 401 Unauthorized with a key: the key is missing, mistyped, revoked, or not sent as Authorization: Bearer op_.... The error message names which.
  • “Your Octopost plan is not active”: finish the $1 trial checkout on the billing page.
  • “No twitter account connected”: connect X on the accounts page.
